1. What We Collect

Women Who Ball ("WWB") collects the following information:

• Account information: Display name, email address, and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
• Newsletter preferences: Email address and selected interests when you subscribe to our newsletter.
• Usage analytics: Anonymous pageview data collected via Plausible Analytics (no personal data, no cookies).
• Engagement data: Article views, likes, and comments when you interact with content while logged in.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the WWB service
• To send newsletters you have subscribed to
• To display your comments and engagement activity
• To understand which content resonates with our audience (via anonymous analytics)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Cookies

WWB uses minimal cookies:

• Session cookie (httpOnly, secure): Keeps you logged in. Expires after 30 days of inactivity.
• Theme preference: Remembers your light/dark mode choice. Not used for tracking.
• Newsletter dismissal: Remembers if you closed the newsletter prompt. Expires after 30 days.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party cookies. Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless and does not track individual users.

4. Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites. All data is aggregated and anonymous. You can review Plausible's data policy for details.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in encrypted databases hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. All connections to our servers use TLS encryption.

6. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Newsletter subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe.
• Comments and likes: Retained as long as your account is active.
• Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymous, retained indefinitely.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Unsubscribe from newsletters at any time

8. Children's Privacy

WWB is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
